The refurbishment and extension of an established nursing care home for people with dementia and mental health conditions, increasing capacity and improving access and facilities for residents and staff. 

The proposals take the form of a new linked single and two storey block, with fourteen new en-suite bedrooms, and a new two storey extension to form a lift shaft and level access from the car park area. 

The internal refurbishment creates additional communal space and introduces high levels of natural daylight to transform the quality of these spaces.  Communal areas link to an external courtyard, which is refurbished and extended to create ‘safe wandering routes’ and a ’Memory Street’ complete with bus stop and post box, which aid reminiscence activities with the residents, improving wellbeing.
